this is the third pedestrian to be hit and killed in east san jose. the ninth person when you take into account the entire city of east san jose. the man, that is all we know, was jay walking after 6:00 this morning while it was still dark out and most likely raining. he was attempting to cross alum rock and was 75 feet away from the nearest crosswalk when the car ran into him. the car did speed off and did not stop or return. the police are looking for the driver. it was a dark sedan. a second vehicle, a minivan, also struck the man. that driver did stop and is cooperating with police. as far as the investigation, officers have been going to the surrounding businesses. you have four businesses on this intersection here trying to see if any of the surveillance cameras caught the accident and perhaps the person who fled the scene. down the street, the east side neighborhood center for seniors has been trying to get the city to make the alum rock corridor safer for pedestrians, especially for seniors. you have the fast cars combined with the culture of
